The Charter School does not charge tuition and is non-sectarian in its programs, admissions, and policies. Continued enrollment is dependent upon progress toward graduation and making satisfactory academic progress. Preference may be given in the following order; 1. Pupils currently attending the Charter School; 2. District pupils residing within the attendance area of the Charter School, as defined by the District; 3. Siblings of pupils currently attending the Charter School; 4. District pupils who meet the federal school guidelines for economic support known as “Title One” or “Free or Reduced Lunch” subsidy; and 5. All other pupils residing within the District. Students and parents/guardians are strongly urged to carefully consider the nature of the programs offered and the rigor of the curriculum prior to applying. If the number of pupils who wish to attend the Charter School exceeds the school’s capacity, attendance, except for existing pupils, shall be determined by a public random drawing in accordance with California Education Code section 47605(d)(2). The Charter School’s students are expected to act in a manner that is caring, confident, and demonstrates they are college bound. Upon enrollment, all students will receive a Student Handbook that covers academic, attendance, and behavior expectations. A student who fails to meet the academic, attendance or behavior expectations will be placed on a probationary contract after a meeting with student, parent/guardian, teachers, and the school principal. If the student fails to meet the criteria in the probationary contract, he or she may be dismissed from the Charter School and required to return to his or her school of record in accordance with the process outlined in the Student handbook. A student may be suspended and/or expelled if found in violation of California Education Code 48900 et seq. Students who reside outside the District’s attendance boundaries will be required to return to their district of record with written notice of the expellable offense to the District Superintendent of record.
