We wanted to communicate an update surrounding the program for original credit to accelerate learning and provide more flexibility in student scheduling.
We build our summer program schedule around students’ needs to ensure students stay on track for graduation and college and career readiness, presenting a strong transcript. With this in mind, we are looking into potentially providing an opportunity for our high school students to get ahead with certain courses. If summer program acceleration becomes a reality, our summer program will begin June 1st following distance learning guidelines. Some courses would utilize APEX, an online program that can be accessed at home with Chromebooks, while other courses would involve teachers posting instructional videos, assignments, and assessments. Currently, we need to determine the level of interest in this credit acceleration program. This summer, LGA is considering offering PE, Graphic Art and Design, Spanish, and Digital Photography for original credit.
In order to enroll students, we created a google form. It is attached to the email of this distribution, is posted on the leroygreene.com website, and also will be in the parent newsletter on Monday. Please complete the attached Interest Form by Wednesday, May 13th if your student is interested in this potential summer credit acceleration program. Feel free to fill out the survey utilizing your child’s natomasunified.org google account if you do not have a Gmail.
We will then be reaching back out to families if the courses become available. Families will be notified by Friday, 5/22 if the course is available and will also receive the status of your student’s enrollment.
